The summer is unofficially over. The holidays are winding down and wrapping up and the kids went back to school today. September is the start of the second real estate season. We expect it to be a busy one. Why? Because interest rates are low, and demand is high.

The problem is that I don’t like brokerages. I don’t like the traditional brokerage model. It is outdated and expensive – expensive for the realtor and for the consumer. It’s a broken model. Real estate is an industry that is waiting for a major disruption. I’ve been complaining about it a lot. The RedPin isn’t a major disruption, but it is a step in the right direction.
Agents are not paid for marketing. And they are not very good at it.
Marketing is something agents do for themselves to generate business and for their clients to demonstrate that they are working. Almost all of the results of a successful sale happen online where buyers search for listings through realtor.ca and through listings matched with buyers through the local agent and real estate board.
